Today is a day off! It is just me and the dogs in our home on the lake. The weather forecast is cloudy with showers and I am planning my day. My husband and his brother are in Ottawa for medical consultations. The dogs are asleep in their respective locations. I have time to pause and reflect over the events of the past few days and then plan my day ahead.
My brother-in-law was recently diagnosed with lung cancer and has come to live with us in our home. Although heartbreaking and difficult, I know many people who have gone through or are going through a similar experience. It has become a new chapter and challenge in our lives together. Rather than a burden, my husband's brother's presence in our home is a privilege and a joy.
So what are my plans?
- Take a long walk with the dogs
- Bathe the dogs
- Clean the house
- Go for a swim at the local indoor pool
- Finish laundry and ironing
- Prepare supper
- Catch up with thank you notes
- Arrange to have the furnace cleaned
- Bake banana bread
Until tomorrow,
Bee Rich
